Frequently asked questions
Short answers about the AI generator, your photo, credits, refunds and sizes.
Is FreePFP.ai really free?
Every person gets one free AI picture a day. After that, each picture uses one credit; packs start at £2.99 for 10. The frame and resize tool and the guides are completely free. The site is also funded by ads.
How does the AI generator work?
You sign in with your email, choose one of 12 styles and upload a photo. Your photo and a description of the style are sent to Replicate, which runs the FLUX.1 Kontext [pro] model by Black Forest Labs. It edits your photo into the style while being asked to keep your face. It usually takes under a minute.
Will it look like me?
The prompts ask the model to keep your face, features, skin tone and expression, and a clear, front-facing, well-lit photo helps a lot. But AI can change details, so check the picture before you use it. If a result is clearly faulty, see our refund terms.
What happens to my photo?
It is cropped and shrunk in your browser, sent to our API and on to Replicate and Black Forest Labs to make the picture. We do not store your photo or the result. We delete the uploaded photo from Replicate when the job finishes, and Replicate removes job inputs and outputs within an hour. Black Forest Labs handles data under its own policy; the privacy policy explains this, including model training.
Why do I need to sign in?
To enforce the one-free-picture-a-day rule fairly, keep your credits safe and stop bots running up costs. Sign-in uses a one-time email link, with no password.
What happens if a picture fails or is blocked?
The credit, or your free picture for the day, is returned automatically. The safety filter blocks sexual and other unsafe content; repeated blocked attempts pause the account for the day.
Can I get a refund?
Yes: unused credit packs can be refunded within 14 days. See the refund terms.
Are the style examples real results?
No. The images in the style gallery are examples kept from the previous version of the site. They show the look of each style but were not made from a visitor's photo or with the model we use now.
Can I use a photo of someone else?
Only with their permission, and only if they are 18 or over. Never use the generator to impersonate anyone or to make sexual, degrading or misleading images of real people. See our terms.
Can I use the picture commercially?
Yes. As between you and us, you can use your pictures for any lawful purpose. Follow each platform's rules, and label AI pictures where a platform or the law requires it.
Which size should I choose?
Use the frame tool and choose the platform you are uploading to. Our size guide shows what each platform says and the size we export.
I bought credits on the old site. What happens now?
Please email hello@theaibarn.com with your payment receipt and the email address you used, and we will look into it.
